Welcome

I appreciate you visiting my website and exploring the possibility of working with me. Taking the first steps to see a therapist can be both anxiety-provoking and relieving. For over 25 years I have helped people gain insight and understanding and ultimately grow through us working together.

About Me

I am a psychoanalyst and licensed clinical psychologist licensed to practice in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia. My professional training includes experience with individual, group, and family psychotherapy in various inpatient, outpatient, residential, community, and emergency settings. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

My academic and clinical journey began at Vanderbilt University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. I furthered my academic pursuits at St. Michael’s College in Vermont where I received a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. After working in a community mental health setting in Tampa, Florida, I pursued a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and subsequently completed my predoctoral internship at the Austin State Hospital in Austin, Texas. Fairfax County Mental Health Services-Springfield Site is where I completed my postdoctoral residency in psychology in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I am a Graduate Psychoanalyst from the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis located in Washington, D.C. I am also a Teaching Analyst on the faculty of the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested and/or if you have questions about psychoanalytic treatment.

I specialize in the treatment of individuals with anxiety, depression, and maladaptive, interpersonal relationships. I utilize a supportive, exploratory, and insight-oriented way of working with patients, best identified as psychodynamically- or psychoanalytically-oriented treatment.

Services

Individual Psychotherapy
• Psychoanalysis
• Supervision

Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps us find the patterns in life that keep us stuck and unhappy. Many of us are unable to move forward in life, stymied by thoughts and beliefs we are unaware of, but are powerfully operating below the surface. In our work together you will be listened to, understood with the goal of gaining insight that can lead to real change. We will better understand how you have been feeling “stuck” in areas of career or personal growth. In therapy we will explore the blind spots that may have held you back. And often to know where we are going in life, we need to first understand where we have been.
